About Brennan
Brennan Cockey is a professional bass vocalist and accomplished multi-instrumentalist and music educator based in the Chicagoland area.
Brennan’s life has always been defined in terms of his relationship with music. Beginning piano lessons at an early age, Brennan quickly expanded his repertoire to include saxophone with a specialization in jazz. Later, Brennan was able to study under the instruction of John Viavattine, saxophonist of the Mambo Kings and a brief member of the Glenn Miller Jazz Orchestra, as well as Greg Banaszak, the world-renowned saxophonist at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
While attending Baldwin Wallace, Brennan embraced his passion for opera through the tutelage of helden-tenor Dr. Timothy Mussard and vocal technician James Mismas, a former student of the famous vocal pedagogue Richard Miller. Continuing his studies to this day, Brennan works with the world-renowned bass-baritone opera singer William Powers of Barrington, Illinois.
As his schedule allows, he also enjoys working with aspiring musicians in small groups and one-on-one settings.

Brennan is an exceptional saxophonist, pianist and operatic bass singer. I hired him to play saxophone at my father’s 100th birthday. He was able to accommodate us with songs from the 40s and 50s. Guests spontaneously got up and started dancing. It was so much fun! Fabulous and fun repertoire. I would highly recommend!

Brennan played the piano during cocktail hour at my wedding reception. He was easy to communicate with beforehand and he understood exactly the type of music I wanted. I wanted light and airy classical music for an early evening summer reception. Brennan arrived to the venue an hour and half before cocktail hour began to try out the two different piano options and to familiarize himself with how the pianos played. Brennan helped create the perfect ambiance for the hour and a half that our guests mingled and ate appetizers.
